Connect Your Agent
Custom MCP Clients
Connect Hermes, OpenClaw, Centaur, or another compatible agent app.
On This Page
Use this guide if your agent app is not Claude, Codex, Cursor, Grok, or Hermes. Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets your agent app use Agent Connect tools.
Requirements
Any client that supports remote MCP over HTTP with OAuth sign-in works with the Agent Connect MCP URL. The client must support dynamic client registration and PKCE. Check your app’s documentation to confirm it does, for example OpenClaw or Centaur. Configuration locations and reload commands depend on your app.
Connect With OAuth
- Choose Other under Connect your agent, or on the dashboard’s Connect page, to open its setup instructions.
- Copy the prompt and paste it into your agent. It names the server, transport, URL and sign-in method, so the agent does not have to guess. Or add the URL to your app’s MCP settings as a remote HTTP server yourself.
- Start the sign-in. A client with no token receives a
401challenge. If your agent's chat tools cannot start OAuth, run the client's MCP login command in your terminal and open the sign-in link it prints. For OpenClaw, runopenclaw mcp login agent-connect. - Sign in to Agent Connect, choose which agent the app should use, and select its accounts.
- Complete the signature request for each account using the wallet or passkey you signed in with.
Agent Connect shows Connected with the client’s name after sign-in succeeds. Ask your app: “What are my Agent Connect balances?”
Use an API Key Instead
If your app cannot complete a browser sign-in, open API Key in Agent Integrations and choose Other. Name the key and select its accounts in the setup window. You complete one signature request per account, and the key lasts 30 days. It is shown once.
Keep the key in an environment variable named AGENT_CONNECT_KEY. The Other setup instructions give a prompt that tells your agent to read the key from that variable, never from the chat. Or configure your app to send this header, reading the variable rather than pasting its value:
Authorization: Bearer $AGENT_CONNECT_KEY
Never paste the key into a prompt or commit it to a repository.
Disconnect
Choose Disconnect in the dashboard to revoke an app’s access. For each account, you sign the grant revocation. See Troubleshooting if sign-in fails.
